POSITION: Sales Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Alameda County Fair is looking for motivated Sales Coordinator to join our team.  The ideal candidate will have sales experience, customer service skills, and knowledge of event labor and equipment needs. Our Sales Coordinator will work on cross-functional teams to sell and produce memorable experiences for our clients and their guests. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to provide a client-orientated approach to event booking, orchestration and logistics in the fulfilment of our clients’ needs. This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Must be available to work a flexible schedule in evenings and weekends, as the job requires.

RESPONSIBILITIES:                

  • Sells and books events within defined parameters of the event calendar
  • Identifies and pursues market opportunities
  • Develops sales strategy to target identified market niches for outbound sales
  • Generates and follow up on leads through market research, cold calling, and inquires
  • Conducts calls and face-to-face meeting with clients daily
  • Builds and maintains relations with new and repeat customers
  • Works closely with Marketing to help build the organizational brand
  • Manages clients including proposal writing, contract negotiation, event production and conflict resolution
  • Coordinates with other team members to generate sales and provide excellent client services
  • Tracks and reports sales leads and bookings
  • Maintains budget and accurately invoices clients
  • Event production including event decorating, event implementation, and work with event services team
  • Develops layouts using event software
  • Prepares and ensures timely execution of monthly schedules, work orders, insurance submissions, etc.
  • Coordinates events and works with teams across various departments to ensure event success
  • Prioritizes multiple projects in a fast-paced, multi-faceted creative environment
  • Develops basic knowledge of the electrical requirements for shows
  • Additional tasks, duties and projects as needed

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Motivated, professional, and well spoken
  • Exceptional communication skills including impeccable client interaction abilities
  • 1-2 years of direct sales experience
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize work based on company/team goal
  • Ability to work independently
  • Capable of working with internal and external teams and partners
  • Computer skills including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint--event software applications a plus
  • Proven ability to learn new computer programs
  • Aptitude to accommodate promoters/vendors concerns with a responsive approach
  • Ability to adapt to unforeseeable challenges and opportunities with a solution-oriented perspective
  • Able to walk, sit and lift 20 lbs. as part of the day to day experience

POSITION: Maintenance Specialist

SALARY: $14-17/hour; Based on Experience

POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a full time position working with the Maintenance, Parking and RV Departments responsible for preparation of parking destinations, maintaining the grounds, RV and parking areas. This position requires familiarity with the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the construction and maintenance trade. Working knowledge of the method and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment. Candidates should be dedicated to adhering to safety precautions and working safely.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Prepares parking destinations including chalking, signage, and barricade set up/removal
  • Prioritizes work and ensures tasks are completed according to deadlines and operational needs
  • Works as needed to maintain parking and RV areas
  • Work safely and skillfully in a construction environment
  • Safely operate hand and power tools
  • Uses physical agility to lift and handle heavy objects
  • Competently perform routine manual labor tasks
  • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate deadlines
  • Other tasks as determined and required by management

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience with basic maintenance equipment such as leaf blowers, weed whackers and lawn mowers
  • Proven problem solving skills
  • Experience using equipment and tools properly and safely
  • Available to work a flexible schedule including weekends and nights
  • Ability to work independently or with a team
  • Possesses effective communication skills with the ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds, stand 60% of the shift and walk long distances
  • Have and maintain a valid California Driver’s License
  • Experience working a forklift or the ability to be trained and certified

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION: Groundskeeper

SALARY: $12-$15/hour; based on experience

POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a full-time, non-exempt, benefited position. This position performs skilled work in the maintenance of the fairground’s turf, plant material and property.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Mowing lawns
  • Pruning bushes, trees and shrubbery
  • Edging walkways
  • Raking and blowing leaves and debris
  • Cultivates and fertilizes lawns, plants, shrubs and trees
  • Sweeps and maintains walkways, driveways, building entrances and other assigned areas
  • Operates grounds keeping equipment including, but not limited to, power, lawnmowers, power-edger’s and blowers
  • Installation and repair of sprinklers and irrigation systems

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Understanding procedures, methods and techniques used in installation, repair and maintenance of sprinklers and irrigation systems
  • Knowledge of and ability to use irrigation system tools and equipment
  • Experience performing skilled work in repair and maintenance of sprinklers and irrigation
  • Possess interpersonal skills including patience, tack and courtesy
  • Ability to safely operate a variety of hand and power tools
  • Good communication skills with ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Capacity to work independently with little direction
  • Have and maintain a California Driver’s License and be eligible to be insured by our insurance provider
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
