POSITION: Full-Time Parking Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY: This is a Full-time; Exempt Supervisory position in our Events Department is responsible for managing all aspects of parking for the Annual Fair as well as year-round event parking and security.  The responsibilities include staff and budget supervision. This position will supervise full-time, part-time, seasonal, on call and volunteer staff members. Staff development is key responsibility of this position. The positon reports to the Manager of Business Development and Event Operations. This is a benefited position which offers a competitive health care and leave package.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans, organizes and supervises all parking operations at the Alameda County Fairgrounds
  • Schedules and implements staffing levels for parking sellers and parking attendants
  • Day-to-day coordinating, planning and oversight of contracted security operations
  • Cross-coordination of parking and traffic control with various departments, clients, and local law enforcement agencies
  • Coordinates and monitors auxiliary parking lots during high volume events
  • Oversees Commuter Parking including contract negotiation and adherence
  • Analyzes and implements ongoing ADA accessibility improvements to Parking and other areas on property
  • Investigates and develops income opportunities and problem solutions for the fairground parking operations

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

  • Must have a business or related degree (4 years of related parking, law enforcement and/or management experience may be substituted for degree)
  • Supervisory experience in managing staff in excess of 40
  • Experience in a commercial parking facility with at least 2,500 spaces
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and staff simultaneously
  • Proven staff development ability
  • Excellent customer service and problem solving skills
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to work under pressure in an intense environment
  • Experienced in analyzing and developing ADA accessibility improvements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and all Microsoft Word programs
  • Availability to work weekends and a flexible schedule
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Ability to have and maintain a California Driver’s License and be eligible to be insured under our policy

Must be able to walk intermittently 2 miles per day

POSITION: CAD/Drafter I

POSITION SUMMARY:

This part time position is responsible for creating plans using CAD software for the Alameda County Fair and Fairgrounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Uses CAD software to create, revise and update construction, and fair operations layout drawings.
  • Transforms initial rough design and layout using computer aided design (CAD) into working documents.
  • Take measurements as necessary in order to draw plans 
  • Draw plans for the layout of the annual Alameda County Fair and other events
  • Draw preliminary plans for building remodels and renovations
  • Update the utility map of the fairgrounds
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance staff to record and update property infrastructure
Read and review older plans to assist with creating new plans

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Technically detailed and proven ability to envision layouts
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to use following computer software:
    • Autodesk AutoCAD 2D or AutoCAD LT
    • Autodesk Revit
    • Google SketchUp
    • Google Earth
    • Microsoft Office

POSITION: Off Track Betting Facility Janitor

POSITION SUMMARY:
This Part time Janitor position is in our Off Track Betting Facility. Shifts are 6 hours in length with occasional overtime. The part time janitor works 3-4 days per week. The Sunrise shift workdays are Friday through Monday from 3:00AM to 9:30AM. The Weekend shift workdays are Friday through Sunday from 4:30 PM to 11 PM; this may vary due to racing schedules, holidays and staff coverage. This is a union position. All employees in this classification must be SEIU, Local Service Workers West members in good standing during the course of their employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintenance of restrooms
  • Floor care including carpet and tile
  • Clearing and cleaning of tables as needed
  • Trash and general maintenance of facility
  • All other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience in all aspects of janitorial including floor care
  • Previous experience using janitorial equipment such as mops, brooms and floor scrubbers preferred
  • Good communication and customer services skills
  • Experience working individual and on a team

POSITION: Assistant Parking Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY: This is a Full Time, Nonexempt position that assists with planning, organizing, and administration of the Parking Operations at the Alameda County Fairgrounds. This individual assists in the supervision of a large and variable staff of on call employees; staff size varies from 10 to 100 individuals depending on demand. This position reports to the Parking Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with day-to-day operations of the Parking Department
  • Supervises parking staff members
  • Trains new employees on work and safety procedures
  • Coordinates scheduling and confirmation of staff
  • Participates in interviewing candidates for employment and assists in staffing selection
  • Reconciles parking revenues
  • Conducts audits of  commuter parking lots for contractual compliance
  • Handles overall  parking operations during Supervisor’s absences 
  • Work closely with multiple cross functional departments including RV Camping, Event Sales and Event Operations

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Must have at least 3 years parking experience
  • Strong customer service skills

POSITION: RV Campground Host

POSITION SUMMARY:

This full time position is responsible for day to day operations of the RV campground. This position is responsible for interacting with RV clients for both RV campgrounds. It reports to the RV Campground and Storage Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sell, book and schedule RV space for both RV South and RV North Campgrounds
  • Assist in the smooth management of all day-to-day operations of the campgrounds, including in and out guest management, conflict resolution and policy enforcement
  • Assure campgrounds are clean and supplies are stocked and organized
  • Assure all financial transactions meet accounting standards
  • Run RV Campground reports
  • Report park maintenance needs
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Excellent customer service skills in person and over the telephone
  • Very good administrative and problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of RV’s and their power requirements a plus

POSITION: On-Call Parking Attendant

POSITION SUMMARY:

This is an On Call, non-exempt position. The Parking Attendant position coordinates and monitors parking within the control of the Alameda County Fairgrounds.  The Parking Attendant ensures the safe use of the parking facilities while maintaining excellent customer service.  This position reports to the Parking Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing excellent guest service
  • Properly directing parking traffic flow
  • Ushering vehicles into parking designated slots
  • Ensuring the safe use of the parking facilities
  • Assisting with the installation and removal of signs, barricades and delineators
  • Troubleshooting any customer service issues.
  • Communicating any incidents, personnel, or customer service issues to supervisor in a timely manner
  • This position does not have cash handling responsibilities

  • Available to work days Monday through Friday; extra shifts on weekends are available
