POSITION SUMMARY:
This is an On Call, non-exempt position. The Parking Attendant position coordinates and monitors parking within the control of the Alameda County Fairgrounds.  The Parking Attendant ensures the safe use of the parking facilities while maintaining excellent customer service.  This position reports to the Parking Supervisor.
                                                                                                                    
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing excellent guest service
  • Properly directing parking traffic flow
  • Ushering vehicles into parking designated slots
  • Ensuring the safe use of the parking facilities
  • Assisting with the installation and removal of signs, barricades and delineators
  • Troubleshooting any customer service issues.
  • Communicating any incidents, personnel, or customer service issues to supervisor in a timely manner
  • This position does not have cash handling responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:
This On-Call Janitor position is at our Off-Track Betting Facility. Shifts occur Wednesday through Monday and average 6 hours in length. On-Call Janitor positions are available for all 3 shifts: 11 AM to 5 PM (Wednesday-Sunday), 5 PM to 11 PM (Thursday-Sunday), and 3 AM to 9:30 AM (Friday-Monday). This schedule may vary due to racing schedules, holidays and staff coverage.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintenance of restrooms
  • Floor care including carpet and tile
  • Clearing and cleaning of tables as needed
  • Trash and general maintenance of facility
  • All other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience in all aspects of janitorial including floor care
  • Previous experience using janitorial equipment such as mops, brooms and floor scrubbers preferred
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Experience working individual and on a team
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays
  • Able to lift 40 lbs.

POSITION: Event Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a regular, Part-time, non-exempt position averaging 30 hours per week. The Part-time Event Coordinator assumes responsibility for client management from contract to event breakdown. The position will focus on event renewal business including booking, contract management, budget supervision and onsite management of events. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the Events and/or Fair business. A minimum of 3 years previous experience in event management is required. Excellent communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate can work independently to deliver results in a fast-paced environment. The ability to manage multiple projects at a high quality standard is crucial. This position requires the flexibility to work various schedules including weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with client to ensure event success this includes: creating work orders, layouts, event production and conflict resolution
  • Sell and book returning events within the parameters of the event calendar
  • Competently upsell and interact with clients
  • Manage contracts to ensure timely execution, maintenance of budget and accurate invoicing
  • Event production including event decorating, event implementation and support staff requirements
  • Coordinate across multiple departments to ensure event success and contractual agreements are met
  • Act as liaison between client, staff and vendors
  • Prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, multi-faceted creative environment
  • Develop layouts using Party CAD and similar software
  • Additional tasks and projects as needed

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Event Management
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Strong client collaboration skills
  • Solid leadership ability in managing cross functional teams
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a non- exempt full-time position in our Maintenance Department. This position will require knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the plumbing trade; applicable state and federal health and safety code requirements; methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment; safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic and mechanical equipment.  Responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution and waste water disposal on grounds.  Responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing gas lines throughout the grounds.
                                                                                                                    
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installing or maintaining hot water heating systems
  • Repairing sanitation systems
  • Installing and repairing plumbing lines, pipes and valves
  • Repairing and/or replacing broken and inoperable bathroom fixtures
  • Clearing and/or unclogging drains
  • Emergency repairs as needed
  • Performing and taking regular water samples for submission to testing agency
  • Maintaining water distribution system for potable water and grounds usage

REQUIRED SKILLS:

POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a temporary full-time position with potential to evolve into a regular full-time benefited position. This position provides set-up and tear down for the more than 350 fairground events each year. This includes putting up pipe and drape, delivering tables and chairs, skirting tables, and responding to event promoter’s requests. This position requires heavy lifting and the ability to work well with our promoters, public and event staff. Candidates must be flexible to work any shift, including the late shifts as necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with a team of event sales and services staff to provide excellent service
  • Skirt tables ordered by promoter
  • Set up and tear down events including custodial functions
  • Plan and set up pipe and drapeaccording to layout drawings
  • Deliver and set up carpet, tables and chairs
  • Promptly and courteously respond to Promoters and Vendors’ concerns  and requests during events
  • Cleans tables, chairs, windows, carpet, etc.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Good communication skills with an emphasis on customer service
  • Experience working in a large event venue
  • Capable of following instructions and layout design
  • Ability to get and maintain a California Driver’s License and be eligible to be insured by our insurance provider
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Mowing lawns
  • Pruning bushes, trees and shrubbery
  • Edging walkways
  • Raking and blowing leaves and debris
  • Cultivates and fertilizes lawns, plants, shrubs and trees
  • Sweeps and maintains walkways, driveways, building entrances and other assigned areas
  • Operates grounds keeping equipment including, but not limited to, power, lawnmowers, power-edger’s and blowers
  • Installation and repair of sprinklers and irrigation systems

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Understanding procedures, methods and techniques used in installation, repair and maintenance of sprinklers and irrigation systems
  • Knowledge of and ability to use irrigation system tools and equipment
